Some friendships are born in unexpected places. Sometimes the people we think we’re encouraging turn around and remind us that they’ve been encouraging us all along.
Recently, I wrote in Captain’s Log about a friend whose infectious smile, kindness, and unwavering faith brought light into a difficult place. He wrote back. His words reminded me that God’s work is often a two-way street.
A Letter From a Friend
Greetings Brother,
Hey man, I’m glad to see you’re doing well, man I appreciate the very kind words. I do my best to try to keep my smile infectious, and make sure that the way I’m treating others and the way people see me carrying myself goes a long way into people’s being able to heal. It feels so good to be remembered and recognized for the very thing that I pride myself on doing the most.
JC, you yourself were an inspiration to me just from the musical taste and your zeal for life and the pursuit of it in general. You yourself have a certain favor from the Lord and just the fact that we crossed paths and we meshed so well reassured me in my favor with the Lord and I know that those who I’ve come in contact with have either benefited from my favor or vice versa.
You, my friend, were a shining light, you my friend were a great example of someone who can come out of a dark place and take it step-by-step and rise up. I know Jesus isn’t through with you, even though you’re kinda old Haha.
There’s so much more work for you to do in the kingdom and so many more people to be touched by your kind words and your larger than ever containable personality. Much love, I love you JC and I wish you the best man and all the endeavors that you can encounter the rest of your life man, you can always reach out to me if you need me. And I’m subscribed to WeRock TV so you know I’ll be looking for more great content!!
Your brother in Christ
The Light Goes Both Ways
My brother, you made me laugh, and you made me grateful. Especially that part about being old.
I wrote about you because I saw something extraordinary in ordinary kindness. You carried joy into difficult circumstances. You treated people like they mattered. You reminded me that a smile can be a ministry.
Sometimes we think we’re the ones carrying the light, only to discover that somebody else has been carrying it for us. That’s friendship. That’s fellowship. That’s grace.
Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 (KJV)
Thank you, my friend, for the laughter, the encouragement, and the reminder that Jesus isn’t finished with either one of us.
Good news. Good music. Good works. And good friends.
JC
