From two years ago: David Gornoski sat down with former congressman Ron Paul for a wide-ranging conversation. They covered the presidential election, whether Paul would help Elon Musk cut government spending, RFK Jr.’s focus on government involvement in our food, the individual versus the collective, and more. It’s worth a look back to see how these questions have played out since.

Scripture never treats people as a faceless mass. God knows each of us by name, numbers the hairs on our heads, and calls us one at a time. When David and Dr. Paul talk about the individual versus the collective, they touch on something close to the heart of the Gospel: every person carries God’s image and is worth more than any system built to manage them. That truth holds no matter the election year. It calls us to love our neighbor as a person, not a category, and to take responsibility for our own choices before God.

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” (Galatians 5:1)
