Green Lantern was always my favorite superhero for one simple reason: he could make almost anything come out of that ring.
A giant fist. A shield. Something to fly on. Whatever he could imagine, he could shape into green light. For a kid with a creative mind, that was about as cool as it got.
Looking back, I understand why that idea stayed with me. As a musician and writer, I love taking something invisible—a thought, a melody, a story—and giving it a form somebody else can experience.
Green Lantern did that with his ring.
In the stories, his power is fueled by will. But I’ve come to think of it in my own way: a ring of truth.
That’s my personal interpretation. A reminder to bring what’s inside into the light. To speak honestly. To use imagination with purpose. To build something that protects people and gives them hope.
And sometimes, telling the truth means admitting you’re afraid, you’ve made mistakes, or you need somebody’s help. There’s courage in that, too.
“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” — John 8:32
I still love the idea of that little green ring. All those possibilities, waiting for someone to imagine what could come next.
What would you create with it?
