History is usually written by the winners.
Kings tell their stories. Empires celebrate their victories. Powerful institutions preserve their reputations.
But the Bible does something extraordinary.
It gives us a voice from below.
My friend and We Rock Network partner David Gornoski explores a revolutionary biblical perspective: Scripture repeatedly reveals history through the eyes of those society overlooks, condemns, or sacrifices.
Consider Abel.
His brother Cain murdered him, yet God heard the blood crying from the ground.
Consider Joseph.
Betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, and imprisoned, Joseph eventually became an instrument of reconciliation.
Consider Job.
A suffering man surrounded by people convinced his misfortune proved his guilt.
And consider Jesus Christ.
Rejected, accused, humiliated, and crucified by the authorities of His day.
Yet the Gospel reveals the innocence of the condemned.
“The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner.” — Matthew 21:42 (KJV)
What an astonishing reversal.
The rejected stone becomes the cornerstone.
The victim becomes the revelation.
The last becomes first.
This perspective challenges our instinct to identify truth with popularity, authority, or overwhelming agreement.
It asks us to listen before condemning.
To examine accusations carefully.
To recognize humanity in those society has pushed aside.
And to remember that compassion never requires abandoning truth or accountability.
David’s work with A Neighbor’s Choice examines these questions through the teachings of Christ and the study of human rivalry and scapegoating.
For me, this message speaks to something deeply personal: Every human being deserves to be heard, including those whose stories remain unfinished.
At We Rock TV, we believe good news begins when people recognize one another as neighbors rather than enemies.
The Bible doesn’t simply celebrate the powerful.
It reveals God’s concern for the forgotten.
Listen closely. Sometimes the truth comes from below.
And love gives everyone a voice worth hearing.
