“The answer to communism is communion.”

What if our response to a divided world began around a table?

Communion calls us into a relationship with Christ and with one another. We receive grace, remember His sacrifice, and learn to see our neighbors as people to love. Every person has a name, a story, and a dignity that no political system can give or take away.

The early Christians shared meals, cared for the poor, and gave to those in need. Their generosity grew from faith, fellowship, and hearts being changed by the risen Jesus. Acts 2:42 describes a community devoted to the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, the breaking of bread, and prayer.

That picture still challenges us today.

We can argue about economic systems all afternoon and still walk past someone who needs a meal. We can demand a better society while refusing to forgive the person sitting across from us. We can speak about humanity and forget the human being next door.

Communion brings those questions home.

Who needs a place at our table? Who needs encouragement? Who needs practical help? Where can we give freely, listen patiently, and carry a burden together?

For Christians, the Eucharist is sacred participation in the life of Christ. Its meaning reaches into the way we live after worship: how we spend, how we serve, how we reconcile, and how we treat people who have nothing to offer us in return.

A generous community requires daily choices. Share the bread. Make the call. Visit the lonely. Support someone finding their feet. Let love become something another person can experience.

We cannot reduce the Gospel to a party platform. We can let it shape our conduct, beginning with our own hearts and our own tables.

What does communion look like in your community this week? Tell us about someone making room for others, and consider one act of generosity you can practice today, right where you are.
