The Outlaw Council stands on one conviction: when the world’s powers demand our allegiance, we owe it to God first.
But how we resist matters as much as what we resist. Paul says our struggle “is not against flesh and blood” (Ephesians 6:12). So we don’t fight with the world’s weapons. We put on the whole armor of God:
🛡️ The belt of truth: say what’s real, even when it costs you.
🛡️ The breastplate of righteousness: live clean so no one can point at your hypocrisy.
🛡️ Feet ready with the gospel of peace: you carry good news, not grievances.
🛡️ The shield of faith: fear and propaganda can’t land.
🛡️ The helmet of salvation: your identity is settled, so you aren’t for sale.
🛡️ The sword of the Spirit: the Word of God, your one offensive weapon.
Then look at Jesus. He confronted the religious and political powers of his day without ever picking up a sword, and he told Peter to put his away. He told the truth to Pilate’s face. He refused to bow to Caesar’s claims or the mob’s demands. He loved his enemies and prayed for the men driving the nails. His resistance looked like defeat on Friday. On Sunday it overturned the whole order.
