Missionary Song — Janny Grein

Dedicated to Janny Grein, who finished her earthly race on August 4, 2011.

“I am but one of many jewels that adorn your crown, sister!”

Some voices stay with us because they carry something deeper than melody. They remind us who we are, whose we are, and why we have been given another day to love. For me, Janny Grein’s voice carries that kind of remembrance.

“Missionary Song” invites me to consider what it means to carry the love of Jesus into the world. There are people who cross oceans to answer that calling. There are others who find their mission across the street, around the dinner table, inside a hospital room, or beside someone who simply needs a friend.

The distance matters less than our willingness to go.

Janny, this dedication is my thank you. Your music became part of my journey, and I know I am one among many people who carry gratitude for what you shared. A song can reach someone the singer never meets. A word of faith can take root quietly, then rise again years later when that person needs it most.

That is a beautiful legacy to leave.

Scripture gives us these words: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7

Today, I remember you with affection and gratitude, sister. I thank God for your life, your voice, and the encouragement that continues through your music.

May those of us still running our earthly race make good use of the time before us. May we listen closely, give freely, forgive readily, and bring Christ’s compassion into the ordinary places where people are hurting.

And when we hear a song that once helped us believe, may we remember the person who offered it.

Thank you, Janny, for sharing your song.

May the love you shared keep inspiring us to serve someone with kindness today.
