Let’s Dance — David Bowie

Let’s Dance was the title track of Bowie’s 1983 album, produced by Nile Rodgers with Stevie Ray Vaughan on guitar. It became one of his biggest hits. The video, filmed in Australia, follows a young Aboriginal couple and pushes back against racism and exploitation.

Seen through a Christian lens, Let’s Dance is a call to joy, and the video adds a call to justice. The couple in the video are pushed down, yet they keep dancing. Joy that holds up under hardship is a gift from God, and He stands with the overlooked.

“You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy.” Psalm 30:11
