Her name is Liberty. She’s a 2010 Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail, and somewhere along the road she became more than a motorcycle to me.
Some people see chrome, two wheels, and an engine. I see a reminder that freedom is precious, responsibility matters, and life is still worth exploring—even when the road ahead is uncertain.
Liberty doesn’t erase yesterday. She doesn’t solve tomorrow. But when I settle into the saddle, I remember something simple: I can pay attention to the stretch of road in front of me. I can choose my direction. I can keep moving without pretending to know what’s around every bend.
There’s something honest about riding a motorcycle. You feel the wind. You notice the weather. You can’t take the road for granted. Every turn asks for a little humility, a little courage, and a whole lot of awareness.
Maybe that’s why I named her Liberty. Freedom isn’t the absence of limits. It comes with choices, consequences, and care for the people who share the road. The open road is beautiful precisely because it reminds me how much I have to be thankful for.
I’ve lived enough life to know that the journey doesn’t always follow the map. There have been unexpected detours, long stops, and days when the destination seemed farther away than ever. Yet I still believe that grace can meet us wherever we are.
For me, Liberty represents a fresh opportunity to live with intention. To listen more closely. To travel a little lighter. To remember that every morning is another chance to practice the things I believe: faith, hope, love, and gratitude.
I’m not riding away from my story. I’m riding forward into it.
And whenever the road opens up, I’m reminded that freedom is not merely a place to arrive. It’s a responsibility to carry well, one mile at a time.
Ride on, Liberty. There’s still road ahead.
