Two Tickets to Paradise – Eddie Money

Before the world knew Eddie Money, he was Edward Mahoney, a young New Yorker who traded a future in police work for a microphone. His debut album arrived in 1977. The following year, “Two Tickets to Paradise” became a hit, carrying a promise bigger than the wallet behind it. (raiders.com)

Listen past that irresistible guitar and you hear something familiar: a man wanting to give someone he loves more than he can afford. The destination almost doesn’t matter. What matters is the invitation. Come with me. Let’s believe there is something good waiting beyond the same old troubles.

That is why this song still belongs on a car stereo with the windows down. It makes ordinary people feel, for a few glorious minutes, that the road ahead is wide open. You don’t need first class accommodations when the chorus already has everybody flying.

But the voice selling paradise belonged to a human being. Eddie struggled with addiction, spoke about those struggles, and kept making music. His story reminds us that a great chorus doesn’t spare anybody the hard work of living. Recovery takes honesty, help, and the willingness to begin again.

At We Rock TV, we hear good music and a reason for hope. We believe people are worth more than their worst chapter. We believe families matter, second chances matter, and joy still deserves a place at the table.

For Christians, that hope reaches beyond a getaway. Christ offers restoration that follows us home, into the dishes, the difficult conversations, and tomorrow morning. “He restores my soul,” says Psalm 23. Sometimes a familiar song gives us enough breathing room to remember that promise.

So turn this one up. Call somebody who makes the journey better. Remember the dreams you postponed, and take one small, honest step toward living again.

Paradise may begin with gratitude for the person beside you, the grace that carried you here, and another chance to love well today.

Two tickets. Open hearts. A little hope for the road ahead.
