Stone in Love — Journey

That opening guitar makes an entrance. Journey’s “Stone in Love” feels like summer remembered at full volume: young love, warm nights, and the excitement that makes an ordinary evening seem unforgettable.

This is music for remembering how alive those moments felt.

To my ears, the song holds two feelings together: the thrill of being there and the ache of looking back. A relationship, a season, or a single night can become part of the way we remember our younger selves.

Then a song comes on, and the years seem to fold.

You remember a face. A place. The friends standing beside you. Maybe even the speakers you first heard it through. Music can preserve the atmosphere of a memory long after its smallest details have faded.

What I love here is how much the instruments contribute to that feeling. The guitar has its own story to tell, while the rhythm keeps everything moving. There is room for both the rush of the song and the longing underneath it.

It makes me think about gratitude.

We do not have to pretend the past was perfect to appreciate its good moments. We can acknowledge what we misunderstood, take responsibility for our mistakes, and still give thanks for the people and music that brought us joy.

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above.” — James 1:17

Through the lens of faith, that verse reminds me to receive joy with humility. A beautiful memory is a gift; so is the chance to create something meaningful today.

Someone around us may be living a moment they will remember for years. We can help make it a kind one.

So turn this up. Enjoy the guitar. Remember the summers, the friendships, and the feeling of hearing a song that seemed to understand you.

Then carry some of that warmth into the present.

Love deserves our attention while we have the opportunity to give it.
