Rush Meets Occupy Wall Street — A WeRockTV Remix

One of the things we used to do at WeRockTV was make remixes of songs, bringing music and the events of the day into the same conversation.

Here is one featuring Rush’s “Tom Sawyer” and Occupy Wall Street. I hope you enjoy it.

A remix can give a familiar song a different setting and invite us to listen again. Music we already know begins speaking alongside another moment, another question, another set of images and ideas.

“Tom Sawyer” is a powerful choice for that kind of creative experiment. Its restless energy and independent spirit leave room for reflection on individuality, authority, and the pressure to accept somebody else’s version of the world.

Placed alongside Occupy Wall Street, those themes invite questions about money, power, fairness, and whose voices receive attention.

People can disagree about a movement and still consider the questions it raises. What does a fair society look like? How do we hold powerful institutions accountable? How do we protect individual freedom while remembering our responsibility to one another?

Music can make space for that conversation.

For Christian listeners, there is another question worth bringing into the room: what happens to our hearts when money becomes our highest priority?

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” — Matthew 6:21

That verse reaches everyone, whatever our income or political views. It asks us to examine what we value, what we pursue, and what we are willing to overlook along the way.

A Christian response begins with that examination and continues through love: generosity, integrity, listening, and care for people who are struggling.

This remix offers an opportunity to revisit a moment through music and consider what still resonates.

That was part of the creative spirit behind WeRockTV: letting songs open a conversation and giving familiar sounds another way to be heard.

Watch, listen, and bring your perspective.

Great music can entertain us, challenge us, and remind us to keep asking better questions.

Thanks for watching and sharing the experience.
