Where does your mission begin?

I think sometimes we imagine serving God as something that starts somewhere far away, after we have enough money, enough training, or a life that finally looks respectable.

But there are people in front of us who need love today.

A neighbor. A friend in recovery. Someone sitting alone. A person we have walked past a hundred times without learning their name.

Listening to Janny Grein’s “Missionary Song,” I find myself thinking about what it means to carry the good news into everyday life.

We can speak about Jesus, and we can also make time to listen. We can pray for someone and ask whether they have eaten. We can share Scripture and show up when there is work to do.

Faith gives our hands something to do.

“For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in.” — Matthew 25:35

Those words bring the mission close to home.

I am learning that helping someone does not require having every part of my life figured out. I can still offer encouragement. I can still be honest about my struggles. I can still receive help with gratitude and pass kindness along when an opportunity comes.

That is part of the heart behind WeRockTV.

Good news. Good music. Good works.

I want those words to become actions: people connecting, artists sharing their gifts, neighbors helping neighbors, and stories that encourage somebody to take one hopeful step.

There are people serving across oceans who deserve our prayers and support. There are also opportunities on our streets.

Today, I am asking God to help me notice mine.

Who needs a call? Who needs a meal? Who needs someone to sit beside them without rushing away?

Play this song, then carry a little kindness into somebody’s day.

Lord, help me recognize the person You have placed before me.
