Monkey Man — The Rolling Stones

Monkey Man comes from the Rolling Stones’ 1969 album Let It Bleed. It opens with Nicky Hopkins on piano and Bill Wyman on vibraphone, and then Keith Richards’ guitar kicks in.

Seen through a Christian lens, Monkey Man is a wild, honest confession. Mick admits he’s a flea-bit mess and doesn’t pretend otherwise. That kind of honesty is where grace begins. God doesn’t wait for us to clean up our act. He meets us as we are and makes us new.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” 2 Corinthians 5:17
