Cuts Like a Knife – Bryan Adams

Some songs understand heartbreak before we have the words for it. “Cuts Like a Knife” walks straight into that moment when someone you love has moved on, and your heart is still standing where they left it.

Bryan Adams gives that feeling a voice. The guitars ring out, the drums push forward, and suddenly disappointment has a chorus. You can hear hurt, disbelief, and the stubborn attachment that makes letting go harder than anybody wants to admit.

There is a contradiction at the center of this song: love can wound us, yet we keep reaching for it. Sometimes we miss the person. Sometimes we miss who we were beside them. Sometimes we keep replaying yesterday because tomorrow hasn’t learned our name yet.

And then that wordless singalong arrives. Everybody knows what to do. A room full of wounded hearts can agree on something, even if it is only a few syllables and a guitar solo.

That is part of music’s mercy. It gives pain somewhere to go. A feeling that seemed unbearable alone becomes something we can carry together, windows down, voices up, remembering that somebody else has been here too.

For Christians, heartbreak can also become a place of prayer. Psalm 147 reminds us that God heals the brokenhearted and binds their wounds. Healing rarely follows our schedule. It can begin with telling the truth, accepting support, and choosing to treat ourselves and others with kindness while the ache remains.

At We Rock TV, we believe good music makes room for the whole human story. Joy belongs here. Grief belongs here. So does the courage to keep loving without allowing an old wound to write every new chapter.

Turn this one up for everybody learning to release what they cannot hold.

Feel the song. Sing the chorus. Give yourself permission to remember, then permission to move forward.

A broken heart still beats. With grace, patience, and a little rock and roll, it can find its rhythm again, one day at a time.
