Stayin’ Alive — Bee Gees

Some songs ask you to sit. This one puts your shoes on for you.

The moment that groove begins, the shoulders loosen, the head starts moving, and suddenly an afternoon needs a dance floor. The Bee Gees gave “Stayin’ Alive” a pulse, with voices that rise above the rhythm and a confidence you can hear before you understand a word.

But underneath all that movement, I hear something more human than glamour: the determination to keep going when life feels heavy.

That is what makes this song connect beyond the clothes, the lights, and the memories of another era. We all know something about trying to find our footing. We all have days when showing up takes more strength than anybody else can see.

Sometimes staying alive means getting out of bed. Sometimes it means calling a friend, going to a meeting, admitting you need help, or doing the next thing with a little more honesty than yesterday.

And sometimes it means remembering that joy still belongs in your life.

You can take responsibility for your mistakes and still dance. You can be rebuilding and still laugh. You can carry grief and still let a good song lift your spirits for four minutes.

From a Christian perspective, that rhythm reminds me to receive today as a gift. Psalm 118:24 calls us to rejoice in the day the Lord has made. Rejoicing does not require pretending everything is easy. It means making room for gratitude right where we are.

So turn this one up. Let those harmonies fill the room. Remember the friends, the parties, the ridiculous dance moves, and the moments when music made strangers feel like neighbors.

Then bring some of that energy into today. Encourage somebody. Take a walk. Make the call you have been postponing. Find one small reason to smile and share it.

There is still music to hear, love to give, and good work to do.

Keep going. Keep growing. Keep dancing.

Good news. Good music. Good works.
