For me, this begins with surrender to Jesus and the daily work of becoming a faithful steward of my own life. I can’t do it in my own strength. Self-control, in Scripture, is listed as fruit—something that grows as we stay connected to the Spirit, not something we manufacture on our own.
“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.” — Galatians 5:22–23
Before we can lead others well, we must learn to govern ourselves with humility, love, and accountability.
So here’s my invitation: pick one area today—your thoughts, your words, your emotions, your appetites, or your actions—and practice faithfulness there. Just one. Then do it again tomorrow.
His final sermon leaves us with a question worth carrying into today: How faithfully am I living the life God has entrusted to me?
