Dr. Oz’s Big Plans

Dr. Mehmet Oz now runs CMS, the agency that handles Medicare and Medicaid. Since 2025 he has started two major programs that only affect healthcare inside the United States.

First is the $50 billion Rural Health Transformation Program. It’s a five-year plan to fix and improve healthcare in rural areas where people often have a harder time getting good care. The money pays for better buildings, more doctors and nurses, telehealth (doctor visits by video), new ways to prevent illness, and modern equipment—not just everyday hospital bills. Every state got some of the money by the end of 2025.

Second is the “Make Health Tech Great Again” project. CMS teamed up with more than 60 big companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Apple, and insurance giants. The idea is to make it easier for patients to see and share their own health records, cut paperwork for doctors, and use apps and digital tools to manage health better.

Both programs are about helping regular Americans get better care at home. Some people wonder how well the money will be watched and who really benefits the most.
