Cheap Sunglasses — ZZ Top

Cheap Sunglasses comes from ZZ Top’s 1979 album Degüello. It’s a tongue-in-cheek tribute to the dime-store shades that make anybody feel cool, and it became one of the band’s signature songs.

Seen through a Christian lens, Cheap Sunglasses is a funny reminder of how much we hide behind. We all have our shades, the image we put on so people won’t see what’s underneath. God sees right through all of it, and He loves us anyway.

“People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7
