La Grange — ZZ Top

La Grange comes from ZZ Top’s 1973 album Tres Hombres and is one of the great guitar boogies in rock. The song is about the “shack outside La Grange,” a real and long-whispered-about house in Texas that was finally shut down in 1973. This performance is from Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival in 2004.

Seen through a Christian lens, La Grange points to the places a town talks about but doesn’t talk to. Jesus went straight to the people others whispered about, and He offered them dignity and a new start. No one is too far gone for grace.
