Quicksand — David Bowie

Quicksand closes side one of Bowie’s 1971 album Hunky Dory. It’s a searching, restless song about a man sinking in questions he can’t answer, grasping at every philosophy within reach.

Seen through a Christian lens, Quicksand is the sound of a soul looking for solid ground. Bowie tried idea after idea and found each one shifting under his feet. Only one foundation holds.
