Ex Machina (2014)
A young programmer named Caleb wins a week at the remote estate of tech genius Nathan. His job is to test Ava, a stunning humanoid robot, and decide whether she is truly conscious. But who is really being tested?
Seen through a Christian lens, Ex Machina is a warning about humans playing God. Nathan creates life in his own image, but without love, humility, or mercy. He treats his creations as property, and his creation repays him in kind. The film shows that only a loving Creator gives life true dignity. Without Him, our creations become our idols and our undoing.
“So God created mankind in his own image.” Genesis 1:27
