Simple Man — Lynyrd Skynyrd
This one is dedicated to our veterans: the men and women who served, the families who stood beside them, and those still finding their footing after coming home.
“Simple Man” carries a message that reaches beyond generations. Beneath that unmistakable guitar and heartfelt voice is a reminder to live with purpose, hold close to love, and remember what matters when the world gets loud.
For this dedication, those words bring to mind the ordinary things that can mean everything: a peaceful morning, a familiar driveway, a friend who listens, a meal with family, or the chance to sleep without carrying yesterday into the night.
Every veteran has a different story. Some speak freely about their service. Others keep parts of it private. We can honor both by listening without assuming, offering friendship without demanding explanations, and remembering that gratitude should continue after the ceremony ends.
To those living with injuries, grief, loneliness, or a difficult transition: you deserve care, connection, and opportunities to build a meaningful life. Your worth has never depended on facing everything alone.
As Christians, we are called to love our neighbors through actions. That can mean making a phone call, sharing a meal, helping with transportation, supporting accessible recreation, or simply being dependable when someone needs a friend.
That is why the good works happening through organizations like Iron City Trykes and AMBUCS matter to me. Practical kindness gives gratitude somewhere to go.
This song is offered with respect for your service and hope for your days ahead. May you have people who know your name, welcome your company, and make room for your story.
May peace find a place at your table. May laughter return often. May the next chapter hold friendship, purpose, and moments worth looking forward to.
Thank you for serving. Thank you for being part of our communities.
You will always have neighbors here.
With love and respect, this one is for you.
