Remember Those Who Encourage You
Featuring David Gornoski — A Neighbor’s Choice
Some people enter our lives and leave footprints. Others leave fingerprints on our souls.
Remember those who encourage you.
In a world where criticism travels faster than kindness, encouragement remains one of the most powerful gifts one human being can offer another.
My friend and We Rock Network partner David Gornoski reminds us of a beautiful principle: Never forget the people who believed in you when believing in yourself seemed impossible.
Think about the teacher who recognized your potential.
The friend who answered your midnight telephone call.
The sponsor who walked beside you through recovery.
The parent who prayed when nobody else understood.
The stranger who offered kindness without expecting anything in return.
These people are treasures.
Scripture reminds us:
“Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:11 (KJV)
Encouragement isn’t flattery. It’s recognizing the image of God in another person and helping that person recognize it too.
I’ve been fortunate to encounter extraordinary encouragers throughout my life. Musicians, mentors, friends, family members, and brothers in faith have helped me rediscover hope during difficult seasons.
Sometimes their encouragement arrived as a song.
Sometimes it was a motorcycle ride, a shared meal, or a simple telephone call.
Sometimes it was someone saying, “Keep going.”
Those two words can change everything.
And here’s something else I’ve learned: Gratitude becomes more meaningful when we express it.
Don’t wait for a funeral to tell someone how much their encouragement mattered.
Call them today.
Write the letter.
Share the memory.
Say thank you.
And perhaps most importantly, become an encourager yourself.
Someone somewhere is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Your kindness might become the very memory that carries them through tomorrow.
At We Rock TV, we believe good news deserves amplification.
So today, remember those who lifted you up.
Then lift someone else.
Because encouragement multiplies when we give it away.
