Montgomery Behavioral Health: Birds of a Feather
Some chapters of your life come with a soundtrack. For my time at MBH, that song is “Birds of a Feather” by Vulfpeck.
Sixty-eight days is a long time to step away from the life you knew. You have time to think about where you have been, what matters, and how you want to live when you walk back outside.
Looking back, I think about the people. Everybody carries a story, and you cannot read the whole thing just by looking at somebody.
That includes me.
I am a father, a musician, a writer, and a man still learning how to take the next faithful step. My time there is part of my story, and I am still making sense of it.
“Birds of a Feather” gives that chapter a little rhythm, a reminder that human connection matters. It is my theme song for that season.
Sometimes music reaches places that conversation cannot. A groove can loosen a tight knot. A melody can remind you that there is still something beautiful beyond whatever difficult thing you are facing.
For me, faith belongs in that picture too.
“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2
I keep coming back to that. We all need somebody willing to listen, somebody willing to care, and somebody who remembers there is a person behind every circumstance.
I cannot tell anybody else’s story from Montgomery Behavioral Health. Those stories belong to them. I can share mine, with honesty, some humor, and hope for what comes next.
To everyone working through a difficult chapter today: may you find good company, a song that lifts your spirits, and enough grace for the next step.
The music is still playing. I am still here. And there is more life ahead to live.
Today, I am choosing to keep listening, keep learning, and leave room for joy along the way.
