A snake eating its own tail. The ouroboros. An image of a cycle that keeps consuming itself.
Sometimes carrying pain in silence can feel like that. The same memories. The same battles. A balloon pumped up until it feels one breath away from popping.
To our veterans: you don’t have to wait until you burst.
Open up to someone you trust. Let the pressure out safely. Your willingness to speak might give somebody else permission to speak—and that courage can spread like wildfire.
No guilt necessary for needing help. No shame in receiving it.
Get hardcore about getting help. Bring in your own special force: qualified counselors, veteran peer support, treatment professionals, and people who will show up. Give staying alive the support it deserves.
You deserve care even on the days you don’t feel strong.
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3
