Call me Ishmael

One of the most famous opening lines in literature traces all the way back to Abraham, Isaac, and Ishmael. Herman Melville understood that these ancient stories were not just history — they were mirrors of the human heart.

Ishmael was the outcast son wandering in the wilderness. Isaac was the promised son carrying the covenant forward. Two brothers born from the same father, yet divided by inheritance, jealousy, fear, and destiny. Humanity has been replaying that tension ever since.

In Moby-Dick, Ishmael becomes the observer of man’s obsession, pride, revenge, and search for meaning. Captain Ahab hunts the great white whale like fallen humanity trying to conquer fate itself. But Ishmael survives because he learns to witness instead of consume himself with vengeance.

The story of Abraham’s family and the story of Moby Dick both ask the same question:
Will mankind be ruled by pride, division, and obsession… or humility, mercy, and truth?

Ancient stories still live because the human heart has not changed. ❤️
